Private Investigator California State Licenses # PI 6514

First we need to determine what your particular situation is - Recovery or Repossession

Repossession - California state law defines repossession as a defaulted contract for payment, holding the vehicle as collateral. This contract must include a repossession clause; a repossession clause would be a paragraph that goes something like this:
"If buyer defaults in this contract the collateral may be repossessed and all repossession fees, attorney and court cost will be the responsibility of the debtor"
If your written contract has the repossession clause we could legally repossess the vehicle on your behalf. Once we review all the documents.

Recovery - May be just a verbal agreement between two parties or just your basic promissory note with an agreement to pay, with no repossession clause as stated above. A recovery would also include anyone that has possession of your vehicle and will not give it back.

Here are the guidelines for a Recovery:
You must be the Legal and Registered Owner on the title or If your vehicle is still financed you must be the Registered owner. If the person in possession of the vehicle is listed as the registered owner or if you are both listed as the registered owner you will have to use the court system to recover the vehicle. Basically the person in possession of the vehicle can not be on the title in anyway for us to assist you under our P.I. Licenses.

Employer / X Employee: If you as the employer, who owns a company vehicle in possession of an ex employee, we can act on your behalf due to changes in the California state law under B&P 7500.1(0). You would still need to comply with the list of documents below.

Before we can act on your behalf you will be required to sign a hold harmless agreement, which can be completed Online, Mailed, E-mailed or Faxed to you. Once we receive and review and approve the documents we will be able to act in your behalf.

We will need the following documents:
1. Copy of your contract (if any).
2. Copy of your driver's licenses.
3. Proof of current insurance on the vehicle.
4. Copy of the current vehicle title or vehicle registration.
5. All information on the person in possession of your vehicle.
6. In most cases we do not need your key.
7. The signed Hold Harmless agreement.
